October 7: An Israeli Family Shares Their Story

10:00 am — 11:30 am

This is a hybrid event. You are welcome to attend via Zoom or to join us in person in the JFCS Community Room (5905 Golden Valley Rd., Golden Valley, MN 55422).

Join NCJW Minnesota and Hadassah Minneapolis St. Paul for an opportunity to learn more about the impacts of the war in Gaza and the October 7 attacks on women and families through a personal account.
Naomi and Amir lived an idyllic life with their three young boys on Kibbutz Nachal Oz, located less than 900 yards to the Gaza Strip border. On October 7th, their kibbutz was brutally attacked when Hamas terrorists breached the security fence and attacked the sleeping community early that Saturday morning.
Hear how they survived more than 12 hours in their safe room, without electricity or cell service, not fully understanding the extent of what was happening outside as they heard screams, shouting and weapons being fired.
Gratefully, they physically survived but the story does not end with their rescue. Like tens of thousands of Israelis, they have been living in temporary shelter, which for them meant a single dorm room for eight months. Being traumatically displaced from the home and community you loved, reeling from the devastating loss of murdered and kidnapped friends and neighbors, living with the uncertainty of their future, Naomi and Amir share their story with us.
